Ankle and Foot Treatment

Ankle and foot problems are very common and can be difficult to manage under the best of circumstances.  Often, a mild injury of the foot or ankle can become more complex if ignored and or not treated in a timely manner.

In those situations, a thorough assessment of complex biomechanical functions, including range of motion, activities or positions that increase or decrease pain, and the other areas that have become affected by the original condition. At Graham Chiropractic and Acupuncture, we treat a wide variety of ankle and foot problems. We get great results for our patients because we consider the bigger picture of their condition, going beyond simply treating the pain.

Most common foot and ankle problems are mechanical in nature, meaning that there is a problem with the muscles, ligaments, tendons or joints. We also see and treat nerve problems such as neuropathy and Morton’s Neuroma. Not all chiropractic practices offices are proficient or interested in treating ankle or foot problems. We have over 20 years of experience treating feet and ankles.

Our approach is unique; we look at the painful areas and also the related anatomy to determine the scope of the condition. The anatomy of the foot and ankle consists of three parts: the heel, mid-foot and the ball of the foot. We then explain our thought process and reasoning to our patients. Better diagnosis leads to more successful treatment.

Ankle and foot problems

Some of the most common problems associated with ankles and feet are Plantar Fasciitis, Achilles Tendonitis, Pes Planus (flat feet), Metatarsalgia (pain in the ball of the foot), Heel Spurs, Arthritis or Bursitis, Morton’s Neuroma, Hammer Toes and neuropathy.

Traditional care for these conditions in the Burlington and Alamance County is often limited to pills, braces and injections. Many care providers recommend surgery BEFORE trying less invasive, and often more successful treatments. Acupuncture, along with comfortable and gentle Chiropractic adjustment, can eliminate pain and restore function. These techniques, combined with effective home care, can bring about remarkable results in 2-3 weeks.

Plantar fasciitis treatment

Plantar fasciitis is one of the most common problems that we treat. Many of our patients report having tried boots/braces, pills and injections with just some relief or no relief. This condition can become chronic and last for years, however we are still able to help the majority of our patients. We combine Acupuncture, Dry Needling, Ultrasound, Cold Laser (Low Level Laser Therapy), soft tissue techniques and mobilization and gentle adjustments of the joints of the foot and ankle in a holistic approach. We also offer advanced custom orthotics that are reasonably priced and highly effective in maintaining the health of your feet.

Post-surgical ankle and foot treatment

We often treat patients after they have had poor results with foot or ankle surgery. In some instances the surgery corrects a portion of the problem, however there is often pain or dysfunction that won’t go away after surgery. We have a lot of experience in evaluating these conditions and can offer a unique combination of treatments to alleviate pain and improve function.

Dr. Kucera and Dr. Isaiah know that a thorough evaluation leads to better care and better results. Dr. Isaiah is certified to fit custom orthotics. We apply our expertise to properly diagnose and develop a treatment plan that has the best chance of success.

Most patients see great progress within 2-3 weeks.
